Why Brinn?

As a newer voice in the field, I possess a unique perspective on the changing landscape of voice and speech for the actor and how we’re choosing to teach it, moving toward a skill-based, panlingual, inclusive approach. I attended The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York and graduated from the conservatory top of my class, trained in Meisner technique, Uta Hagen, the IPA, Linklater voicework, Fitzmaurice voicework, and my personal favorite, Knight Thompson Speechwork (among other methods). During my conservatory training, I fell in love with the art of Voice & Speech and the vulnerability work that came with it. This led me to pursue a teaching career in the field upon graduation.

My teaching style is organic, and I cater to student’s individual needs as well as the needs of a production. In coaching sessions, I utilize my own original and innovative approach intent on embracing the differences in each of us that make us unique, rather than erasing them. Along with my own personal techniques and ideas, I incorporate and take inspiration from the many industry trail-blazers I mentioned my admiration for earlier.

Since graduating, I’ve freelanced coaching actors and other individuals, as well as production casts in voice, speech, and dialect work. I also continue to read and seek out further education in the field through certifications that I’m working through to achieve and broaden my knowledge, which I will continue to invest in for as long as I am able. After all, this is a lifelong education field that I feel truly passionate about. The work is never done.
